You’ve got to be up to the job is the overarching recruitment theme we developed for the Ministry of Defense. The strapline combines respect for the military with the challenge of doing exceptional work in exceptional circumstances. And of course, this also applies to nurses in the military. These are often specialists who have completed their training in ‘civilian’ life. We show you in an eye-catching way that being a nurse in the military is just that bit more challenging.
We developed the online course Xtreme Nursing, which you can follow on the Facebook page of WorkingatDefense (Werkenbijdefensie). The biologist, Freek Vonk (well-known from the TV show DWWD, Freek in ’t wild (Freek in the Wild) and Eva Jinek), discovers first-hand the differences between working as an ‘ordinary’ nurse and working as a nurse in the military. In five episodes, Freek learns how to treat snake bites, work in small (and moving) spaces, how to stabilize a patient at sea, and much more. The course shows that there’s quite a lot more to working as a nurse in the military. The banners publicizing the course show this with a humorous slant. The campaign is a clear example of opting for content.
